Well, I've Finally Done It

It's taken me 47 years, but I've actually finished reading the Bible from cover to cover!  Truthfully, it's taken me just a little over a year of daily reading.  I made a commitment last year to read the entire Bible.

I had one of those moments, after watching others just open the Bible to a passage that had an answer they were looking for.  I prayed and asked God, which book and verse was right for me and he answered "start at the beginning".  My reply was "are you sure"? (I didn't understand yet, that you should do what God tells you without question, but with faith) "Yes, start at the beginning.  I have something for you when you are done".  So, day after day and a little over a year later, I've read it!

Now, I'm going to go back over it and begin individual book studies.  Anyone have a favorite book or passage?

  1. Good for you! wow, I have not yet done it, and I want to,but need to commit,
I love the Psalms, and my favorite is 4:8 (it comforts me)
" I will lie down and sleep in peace, for You alone, Oh Lord make me dwell in safety"

    1. LW,

Thanks for being a new follower and thanks for taking the time to comment. I try to read them and respond to each, so keep them coming.

I've got my Bible full of tags in the Psalms. I'm going to make it my quest to find a few that really stand out for me.

      Best wishes!

  2. Congratulations! Good for you! Obedience is the key, always the key to growing in the Lord! I learned a few months ago when God says move, he means move....if he says stay, he means stay...if he says shut-up, means shut-up...LOL...If we would only obey Him wihtout thinking we know more than He does we would all be better off...I think my favorite scripture would be Jeremiah 6:16 I have it on my blog...I love it...My favorite story would be Abraham and Issac...Such faith Abraham had...the song "When I lay my Issac down" is one of my very favorites...so much truth to it...if you have never heard it you can find it on youtube...As far as having a favorite book in the bible...I will have to think on that one...I have several that I really, really like...Again, congrats on your accomplishment I am proud of you!

  3. Wow Izzy, I am impressed. Congratulations!

This is actually something I've contemplated doing, just never made the commitment. I think my mother has read in through a couple of time. I'll continue to keep on my to do list. Thanks for the reminder.

  4. Congrats! I read a Psalm or two each day along with a Proverb. Our church just started a Bible reading program that will take two years to read all the way through at 3 chapters per day with special readings during holiday seasons. We are planning to read through as a family which should be nice. :) Blessings to you, Izzy! ~Lisa

PS: Did you receive your Drawstrings bag yet?

    1. Lisa, yes I did receive the bag. Just put a post up on it this morning. Thanks again to you and Wanda!

I have lots of markers in the Psalms and Proverbs area. I want to go back through and reread them. I'm looking for a good study guide to use at this point. Any suggestions?
