Something seems weird

The Moose took me out for an early Valentines Day dinner, lunch.  We're pretty frugal, especially when it comes to eating out, so unless we have a coupon, or they're running a special we pretty much eat at home.  Frankly the Moose can cook better than most restaurant cooks/chefs anyway, we're more sanitary and I can eat in my p.j's if I want.

The last couple of times we entered these establishments (Chili's and California Pizza Kitchen)  the Moose noticed that most of the clientele were women.  Less than 1 out of every 10 customers were men.  Those guys, including the Moose were with their wives/girlfriends, not alone or with a group of guys.

Do men eat lunch?  If they do, where?

I never even took notice, maybe because I'm one of the women?  I'm not like most though, I never did very well in a hen cluck around the water cooler in the office.  Seemed like such a waste of time.

So to the men who follow along, where do you eat lunch? Do you hide out in your car/truck for the peaceful quiet of an environment not filled with cackling women?

  1. My guess would be it's a utility v. luxury thing in part. I would also say you are seeing the real demographics of this collapse where middle management and office/government/service jobs were kept by armies of Women why men bore the brunt job losses.

I notice it around here a lot but I am close to the state government center so it would make sense.

    1. Preppy,

The Moose actually made the same statement about men baring the brunt of job losses. We'll pay for the inbalance down the line. Just what we need are emotional women running everything. It'll be all about how everyone feels, versus getting the job done and done right.

  3. I'm obviously not a man but would guess ... Woody's or Bono's Barbeque. Or the local Stans or Omar sandwich shop.

    1. Could be, but our local hamburger place was more evenly divided.

  4. We too seldom if ever eat out. This became our norm when this mini-depression took firm hold on our finances. Lunch for me is always at work, usually a PB&J. Your Moose and Me have much in common.

    1. We love PB&J ourselves! And yes, I think you both have much in common. We're planning a trip to JAX soon to meet up with DFW again for lunch. We'd love to meet you, should you have the time.

  6. Hmmm. We don't go out very often either, but I notice the same thing. However, our local brew pub is often populated by more men than women... Maybe it's the type of restaurant? Who knows.
