It's so cold here in Central FL, we didn't get out of the 50's yesterday, and we hit freezing this morning. As we were taking a break for lunch (egg salad, we have plenty of eggs!), a frog fell from an oak tree and landed in the dirt. It was just too cold, it couldn't hang on any more.
I've never seen anything like that before, needless to say I avoided walking under any trees for the remainder of the day.
Our frogs have been buried in the mud for months, I think they hibernate once the frost kills most of the bugs. When we hear the first tree frogs, it is a sure sign that warm weather is here to stay.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure ours every really hibernate. I don't recall a time when I don't hear them. But maybe I've not really been paying attention. I'm sure to now, after I watched them fall out of trees!
DeleteIzzy,
ReplyDeleteI would avoid walking under trees too. I'm not a frog lover myself.
I'm starting to wonder what I'm a fan of really!?! I hate snakes, spiders, frogs, ants, etc. What does that leave me? Oh yeah, chickens and pigs!
DeleteRaining frogs in Florida!? No wonder I live in Western Washington. Our frogs stay where they are suppose to and the worse snakes we have are Gardner snakes unless you live in Eastern Wa. They have rattlers over there.
